Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman says that the agricultural sector provides more than 14% of Ukraine’s GDP, the Government portal reports.
"The agricultural sector forms the economic and social foundation of our country, providing over 14% of Ukraine’s GDP and more than a third of foreign exchange earnings to the state budget. In the 2016-2017 marketing year, grain exports amounted to almost 45 million tonnes and the highest yield of barley, rye and rapeseed was recorded in 2017,” Groysman said in his congratulatory message on the occasion of the Day of Agricultural Workers.

The prime minister also stressed that Ukraine is expected to harvest the record corn crop this year - about 34 million tonnes, and the grain harvest is projected to be not less than the record harvest of 2016.

As reported, the Day of Agricultural Workers of Ukraine is marked on November 18.
