No need to amend Constitution to reach settlement in Donbas, Zelensky tells Putin

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in a phone conversation with President of Russia Vladimir Putin said there was no need to amend the Ukrainian Constitution to reach settlement in Donbas. The importance of strict adherence to the ceasefire regime established on July 21, as well as of separation of forces and means from the delimitation line was emphasized, the president's press service reported.

"The parties discussed the situation with the night shelling, which resulted in the death of four Ukrainian servicemen. Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the inadmissibility of this repeating," the report says.

The presidents of Ukraine and Russia also discussed the demining in the area of Stanytsia Luhanska necessary for the beginning of reconstruction and repair of the bridge. They also discussed the importance of dialogue within the Trilateral Contact Group. "Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that he would protect the rights of all Ukrainians, no matter where they were, and there was no need to amend the Constitution of Ukraine for that," the press service wrote. The parties agreed on a possible meeting of the state leaders of the Normandy format. The working groups are currently working on the documents to be signed at the highest level. The issue of exchanging captives was also discussed during the phone conversation.
