Trilateral talks on the transit of Russian gas via Ukraine's gas transmission system (GTS) will be held today, October 28, in Brussels, according to the website of the European Commission.
“Mr Maroš Šefčovič chairs trilateral gas talks between Russia and Ukraine, in Brussels,” reads the report.

As reported, the third round of trilateral gas talks between the EU, Russia and Ukraine took place on September 19 in Brussels, under the chairmanship of Vice-President for the Energy Union, Maroš Šefčovič, and with the participation of delegations of the European Commission, Ukraine and Russia. The parties noted a constructive approach to the possibility of maintaining the transit.

On October 22, Ukraine, the European Commission and the Russian Federation held technical consultations as part of preparations for the next round of gas talks. During the meeting, the parties discussed Ukraine's progress in implementing the European legislation and creating an independent GTS operator.

The current contract for the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine expires on December 31, 2019.
