The Defense Ministries of Ukraine and Estonia have signed a declaration of intent to cooperate in the sphere of territorial defense, the Ukrainian ministry’s press service has reported.
“As part of the visit of Ukrainian Defense Minister to the Republic of Estonia on November 26, a meeting of Andriy Zagorodnyuk with Minister of Defense of Estonia Juri Luik took place in Tallinn. The parties discussed current areas of cooperation between the defense departments of the two countries and outlined further steps for cooperation. Following the meeting, the declaration of intent to cooperate in the field of territorial defense was signed,” the report says.

It is noted, the document defines cooperation in the field of development of the territorial defense concept of Ukraine and practical implementation of a pilot project in this field within the designated territorial-administrative units (regions) of Ukraine.

"The development of the territorial defense concept of Ukraine is planned to be carried out considering the experience in establishing and functioning of the Estonian Defense League and the voluntary national defense organization of the Republic of Estonia,” the report says.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry also reported that Zagorodnyuk had visited the mobile military field hospital of the mechanized brigade of the Estonian Armed Forces.

"At the end of the visit, the Ukrainian defense minister had the opportunity to discuss with the President of the Republic of Estonia areas of bilateral cooperation, in particular the studying by the Ukrainian side of Estonia’s experience in the field of military medicine," the press service said.

It is also reported that the head of the Ukrainian defense department visited the Cooperative Cyber Defense Centre of Excellence, where he discussed with Estonian colleagues promising areas for further bilateral cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of cyber defense.
