Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that the Russian Federation is ready to exchange ambassadors with Ukraine again.
“It seems to me that someone has mentioned the possibility of Zelensky's decision to return the ambassadors. We will not object. Even in the current conditions, our countries are very interconnected in the economy, in the field of transport, in humanitarian affairs, in family relations,” Lavrov said in an interview with the Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper.

Lavrov also noted that he had an opportunity to talk with his Ukrainian counterpart, Vadym Prystaiko, only once during the Normandy format meeting in Paris.

As a reminder, Ukraine and Russia have no ambassadors since the start of Russian aggression against Ukraine. On March 17, 2014, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Russian Federation Volodymyr Yelchenko was recalled to Kyiv for consultations in connection with the annexation of Crimea by Russia. After that, he did not return to Russia. The Embassy in Moscow is headed by Charge d'Affaires Ruslan Nimchynsky.

On July 28, 2016, Mikhail Zurabov was relieved of his duties as the ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ukraine. The Russian Embassy is headed by Сharge d'Affaires Alexander Lukashik.
